Pomerol

Plaisir de Sieurac is the second wine of Chateau Siaurac, a relatively unknown estate that has been getting the attention of critics these last couple of vintages. The winemaker here is Yannick Reyrel, most known for his work in Pomerol but also at Napa Valley's esteemed Dominus. This Merlot-based gem offers very appealing and modern (fruity/juicy) flavors that will put a smile on your face whether you like Old World wines or New World. At this price, it is pretty much a steal.

Fleur de Bouard in Lalande de Pomerol is owned and managed by Hubert de Bouard of Chateau Angelus. Very much a junior version of Angelus, this wine is impressively seductive with a good concentration and a sumptuous silky texture. A deep, velvety wine. The 2005 is made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
